What is Botox/Dysport and How Does it Get Rid of Wrinkles?

Botox and Dysport are both neuromodulators with slightly different characteristics, but they both temporarily block signals to muscles to reduce its activity. The treatment usually takes five to fifteen minutes, but treatment time varies depending on the number of units and area of treatment.

The number of units depends on each individual and the area. Many people start receiving injections (baby botox) in their early twenty’s as a preventative measure.

How to Prep for Botox/Dysport

We recommend avoiding blood thinners like Advil (ibuprofen) and alcohol at least twenty four hours prior to your appointment. If you really want to do everything you can to minimize bruising, avoid Aspirin, Advil, Omegas, Fish oils, Vitamin E, Garlic, and Ginseng at least two weeks prior to your treatment.

Is Botox/Dysport Painful?

Everyone has a different tolerance level to pain. Many patients state their Botox/Dysport injectable experience to be like a needle prick. We offer options to ice the area or apply topical numbing cream before the injections at the patient’s request.

Aftercare and Results

Avoid any exercise at least twenty four hours after your Botox treatment, and avoid lying down for four hours. Do not massage or rub the injected area, and do not sleep on your face for the night post-treatment. To prevent bruising, do not consume alcohol, or take any blood thinners for twenty four hours.

Results will show in five to seven days, and final results will be visible after about two weeks and can last three to six months.
